Cua Tu is located 45 km from the center of Thai Nguyen city, in Hoang Nong commune, Dai Tu district. The commune is located in the western part of the district and in Tam Dao Mountain, which borders the highest peak of this mountain range (1,590 m). This is also the boundary commune between the three provinces of Thai Nguyen, Vinh Phuc and Tuyen Quang. A stream flowing from the Tam Dao Range, along the length of the commune and then into the Cong River, which is the Cua Tu.
